Landscape Design

Trained and Certified Arborists

While we are not primarily a landscape design company, we do offer expert design services focused on native plants, including native grasses, wildflowers, and pollinator habitat. Our designer has extensive experience designing and installing landscapes that are well adapted to local conditions.

Native grass meadows, dotted with wildflowers and surrounded by flowering native and adapted shrubs, create an ideal understory for trees. The broad, deep, and less frequent irrigation we design supports both native grasses and healthy tree growth. The result is a landscape with a natural feel — flowing, organic, and appropriately subtle for our dry desert environment.

Our trained and experienced team can transform a yard that is hot, hard, and sterile (and ugly) into one that is cooler, softer, and full of unexpected living surprises, such as butterflies and lizards — and yes, it looks really nice too. We can also remove old rock mulch and the life-choking weed barrier fabric beneath it, replacing those harsh materials with targeted irrigation, generous organic mulch, and new plant selections that are both appropriate and beautiful.

Landscapes designed the Legacy Tree way require less maintenance, cost less to care for, and rely on little to no chemical use. Fall leaf litter can simply be raked over wood chip mulch and left to break down naturally, releasing life-sustaining nutrients back into the soil to be taken up again in the next growing season. Weeds are largely controlled by mulch, though some hand-pulling may be needed at first to prevent reseeding. Pest and disease pressures are also reduced because trees are healthier, with strong root systems supported by diverse, well-adapted plant communities.

By mimicking the structure and function of healthy natural landscapes, we create the floral matrix that ties the local ecological community together — and once again, it looks really nice.
