Tree Removal

Trained and Certified Arborists

When it’s time for a tree to come down, let Legacy Tree take it on. We have the equipment and skill set to handle removals ranging from small and simple to large, heavy, and complicated. Our arborists carefully bring trees down while avoiding damage to the surrounding landscape, nearby structures, and themselves. Once the tree is down, we remove all debris. Smaller branches are chipped into high-quality arborist mulch, which we use extensively to improve landscapes. Larger wood can be cut into firewood-length pieces and left on site, if desired.

Sometimes trees need to be removed because they have died. Dead trees can be especially dangerous, as brittle wood and areas weakened by decay make their behavior unpredictable. In these cases, we carefully assess the safest way to proceed, with human safety always our number one priority. Removals like this can become complex engineering projects requiring large equipment and careful planning, and they should never be left to inexperienced or under-insured tree workers.

Living trees may also need to be removed when they conflict with the built environment — for example, buckling a retaining wall above a neighbor’s coffee patio. With a tear in our collective eye, we carefully dismantle these trees to resolve the conflict, always keeping safety as Goal #1. Our climbing arborists are skilled at taking trees apart in manageable sections, minimizing risk to landscapes and buildings — Goal #2. Whether the tree is living or dead, once it is removed we can either cut the stump low or grind it out. How the space will be used next often determines the best option.

Not all trees give up easily when they are cut down. Siberian elm trees commonly resprout from the stump and sometimes from the roots. Tree-of-heaven can be even more aggressive, sending up dozens of new shoots after losing a single stem. Trees like these require a careful, targeted chemical approach to prevent regrowth. Legacy Tree has the knowledge, licenses, and products needed to handle even these tough cases effectively.
